Pujols: Taking His Talents to Anaheim

Hey look Cardinal fans, it could be worse; at least you didn’t get it as bad as Cleveland did, right? Deadspin published this little nugget last night that I think might be of some interest (for the purpose of gloating, if nothing else) to Reds fans. It begins by quoting Prince Albert in this 2009 interview: "Do I want to be in St. Louis forever? Of course," Pujols said. "Because that city has opened the door to me and my family like no other city is ever going to do. I don't want to [go to] Read more [...]

Updated: Last day for #HatsOffCIN

UPDATE #2: We won!! UPDATE: It's not clear if it's official yet, but we *appear* to have finished ahead of San Fransisco by several thousand. I haven't been able to track down any word from official sources (at least not on Google or Twitter), so I have no idea if it's official, but it has to at least be a good sign, right? Just a quick reminder for all the twitter folk out there (hold on though, non-Twitter people; I'll tuck something in at the end for you); this is the last day of the Hats Read more [...]

Hooray Baseball

image from hardballtalk.nbcsports.comThe Reds pulled out an Opening Day win in the epic fashion that basically defined last season. I didn't get to watch it, but we listened at work, and you could just tell that the atmosphere was electric down there. NBC's HardballTalk did a great summation if you have somehow missed the story up until now. The thing that stood out to me the most about this game was that, just like last year, this team gives you everything that they have until the final out. Read more [...]

The Awesome List 7/24

Hello humble readers! (Yes, all ten of you)Now that Ben finally has the blog going again, I felt guilty not trying to contribute something. Even though my schedule is EXTREMELY busy, I'd like to do my part to keep the blog entertaining and interesting.I've decided I'm going to try and do a weekly contribution called "The Awesome List." Let's face it, a lot of things really, really, really, really, suck these days; and I'm sure I could write for hours on a lot of those things, but I think that Read more [...]

Leon Hall Arrested, Tank Johnson Signed; typical week…..

It has not been a good week for sports in this town.First the Bengals sign Tank Johnson. Yes, we deliberately signed a player that already has legal issues in his past. Yeah I know it was just a misdemeanor gun charge, but it still makes me nervous with all the other trouble we've had in the past (I still have visions of Chris Henry waving a gun around in front of the club wearing his own f'n uniform). Could Tank be a good pickup for the Bengals if he keeps his nose clean? Sure, it has potential. Read more [...]

Tom Browning Arrested? It is a sad, sad day in Redsville……

From Stock PhotosThis one actually hurts a little.According to the Enquirer, former Reds pitcher Tom Browning has been jailed for....Non-payment of child support?? Christ. I mean this really is just the top of disappointing. One of my most vivid childhood memories is Dad turning on the last few innings of the perfect game he threw in '88. Mike and I had a poster commemorating the perfect game hanging in our room for years. Fast-forward to present day, and it would appear that the player whose achievements Read more [...]

Another reason not to like Cutler:

Aside from being the least entertaining and most incorrect radio personality in the city, we now have this bit from his job in Lexington as a reporter, re: the recent termination of Billy Gillespie by UK as their men's basketball coach. Watch this:In the interest of fairness, he attempts an explanation here.I think its pretty inadequate, especially considering the next blog entry of his is about the PRESS CONFERENCE that BG gave after getting canned. Maybe you should have done you job THERE, buddy. Props Read more [...]

Blog Neglect

I'm guilty. Its been right around a month. At any rate, since its been so long, I'm just going to fire out a bunch of random (or not-so-random) things that have been on my mind lately, and then perhaps pick a few of them to expound on at a later date.1) First and foremost, I am filled with absolute glee that the George W Bush era is coming to an end quite soon. Good riddance. Obama couldn't possibly do worse, and he may just do quite a bit better.2) I haven't talked much about work on here at all, Read more [...]

Movie night II

The best of my YouTube findings this week:I know I said I was done with her, but this is way too good. One of my favorite Super Bowl commercials of all time is Terry Tate, Office Linebacker. If you don't remember it, this may jog your memory. Now that you've had the refresher course, here's the actual video in question (and yes, I'm REALLY done with her after this). This will be painful for many of you, but it is an interesting four minute history of the Bengals under Mike. It sort of puts this season Read more [...]

Who was that playing the Jags on Sunday?

It couldn't have been my lowly Bengals, could it? I mean, the team that beat Jacksonville played good enough defense and offense that, while nowhere near top caliber, showed enough resilience to get the job done. Dare I say, it almost looked like they were taking pride in what they were doing out there. Now, allowing for all that, allow me to share my fear with you. Picture with me, if you will, Mike Brown, hiding in his secret lair (likely in Indian Hill) and cackling with glee as the game goes on. Read more [...]

Let’s Go, Cyclones!

Here's an idea Cincinnati...instead of complaining about the Bengals 24/7, how about going down to US Bank Arena and spending less money for a better product? Even if you don't like hockey, the organization makes it a fun experience. Just ask my friend Sean, who is now known as the John Morrell Sausage Boy. Great team, great fans, good times. Thank God for hockey season. Read more [...]
