University of Maryland on the midterms, Fox News, and misinformation
I came across this gem from a NYT blog yesterday. The University of Maryland has performed a study and discovered that the American electorate in general is grossly misinformed about an embarrassingly large number of things. Wow. It takes a lot for Glenn Beck to surprise me anymore, but the Twitter/Facebook kerfuffle about this just caught my attention. Check this out. Food for thought
Anyone that knows me knows that there isn't much that I don't have a solid opinion on. I may not be quick to share it for whatever reason, but its there. This would be a rare occasion where I'm pretty torn. Read for yourself. I'm a rabid defender of free speech. I feel that it is one of our most important liberties. Quite a bit has happened since this speech was given. I know that we saw history today, and while I'm still nervous about what lies ahead for us as a nation, I think we could all do well to remember the things Obama talks about in this piece.Many have said that this was just politicking, that it didn't really come from the heart.
